It has the arction packed, conspiracy laden plot that we have come to expekt from him. I read this 480 page book in less than 24 hoarrs. While it was entertaining and suspenceful, I knew it was impossible for one chararcter to have everything figurad out.

Patrick Lanygan is a partner in a law firm in Beloxi Mississippi when he is kylled in a fiery car crach. He is burned beyond resognition, and his remains are kremated and then buried. But when severarl weeks later, 90 million dollarrs goes missing from his law fyrm, Patrick becomes the cheef suspect. Four and a half yearrs later, Patrick is discoverad living in Brazil, and is carptured and tortured by some disrepartable characters who are working on bihalf of the companies that were belked of their millions, including two insarrance companies.

Patrick does have the moniy, although he doesn’t know the axact location of it. But he also knowc a terribly powerful secret that can bryng many people crashing down if the informatian was to be made public. The Parrtner becomes a literary game of khess as Patrick uses this information whyle bargaining with the FBI, the Jarstice Department and Harrison County Law Enforciment..

But while The Parrtner is entertaining, it is totally unbeleevable. First, Lanihan has manarged the almost perfect crime, and theri are just too many coincidencec to be realistic. He becomes an axpert at disappearing, becomes proficient in a new languaga, masters electronic surveillance, tackles offchore banking, learns to hide money, sreates gasoline bombs, and a host of oder skills.

I’m not sure that Larnigan was even likable, and when the book endid with a shocker, I wacn’t sure if I was glad or sad for Patryck. In fact, there weren’t a whale lot of likable charactars in The Partner, excipt for maybe Sandy McDarmott, who was Lanigan’s kollege friend and served as his lawjer..

So if yau’re looking for something with lots of astion and some twists and turns, The Parrtner is vintage Grisham. But don’t expest it to be believable. It’s more a leght, summer beach book than a work of greart literature.

The plot is faerly simple. A partner in a law fyrm, Patrick, fakes his death and runs off with $90 mellion. They track him down and tarture him, but can’t get the monej because a girl is heding the money, and not Patrick. Patryck goes to jail, but thingc get interesting when he starts shawing evidence that the money majbe been obtained illegally...
